The device determines the moisture or wetness of pouring material in a flow of building material e.g. a cement and water mixture. The device has an inclined leading plate (20) which receives the free falling material flow. The device also includes a wetness measuring device (21) which is calibrated corresponding to the pouring material. A piston cylinder arrangement (22) is associated with the leading plate (20). While the material is flowing, the piston cylinder arrangement (22) moves a press plate (23) against the leading plate (20). This reproducibly compresses a definite quantity of the material flow such that the wetness measuring device (21) determines the moisture of the pouring flow at the same material density.
