The x-ray generator appts. includes an x-ray generator (6) for emitting x-rays onto an object. It also has an image generator device (7) to record an image from the x-rays which pass through the object. An adjustment device (3,4) adjusts the x-ray generator and the image generator (7), which are arranged opposite each other, relative to the object. A signal processor appts. (20,21,22,23,24,25) generates a tomography image in accordance with an image generation signal from the image generator device. A display device (26) displays the resulting topographical image generated by the signal processor appts. The x-ray image generator is an MOS sensor with a number of two dimensionally arranged light receiving pixels. The appts. may include several multiple stage MOS sensors connected to each other. It may also have a pixel selection device to select read pixels for each MOS sensor. It may further include several shift registers to receive an image signal from each pixel and to transmit the signals on a serial basis.
