<p>1300874 Sludge incinerators METALLGESELLSCHAFT AG 12 May 1971 [14 May 1970] 14590/71 Heading F4B A multiple-bed furnace for burning clarifier sludge comprises a plurality of superposed hearths 22, a stirring arm 20 carrying stirring teeth 25 mounted above each hearth, and wherein the teeth are so shaped that their lower edges form an acute angle to the hearth. An opening through which the sludge is fed is near a collar 21 which surrounds a hollow shaft 19. The stirring teeth 25 scrape off the sludge and move it to a discharge edge 28 from whence the sludge falls through an opening 23 to the next lower bed. The furnace is adapted to comprise a drying zone, a burning zone, and a zone for cooling the ash. In operation, sludge is taken from a thickener 1 and is fed by a pump 2 through means 3 for removing coarse particles to a heater 5. The sludge enters a decanting centrifuge 6 where a flocculating agent, e.g. a polyelectrolyte is supplied through a pipe-line 14. The thickened sludge is fed by a pump 7 to the uppermost bed of the furnace 8 through a pipe-line 15 which is as smooth and straight as possible. Waste oil enters the furnace through conduit 17 and preheated air via conduit 16. The flue gas leaves the multiple-bed furnace through a pipeline and flows through a sensing station 4 and the sludge heater 5 into a flue gas purifier 10, which may consist of a wet scrubber. The purified flue gas is sucked by a blower 18 and forced into a chimney.</p> |
