The component (1) has an outer (2) and an inner wall (3), between which is either an air gap or a fibre insulation (14), and an inner chamber, through which flows exhaust gas. The inner wall contains a preset, dished, heat stress compensation zone (6), whose edge section (7) contains transitions to the inner wall rest. Preferably the upstream or downstream inner wall end contains a peripheral flange (8) with convex or concave transitions (R2) to the inner wall. The heat stress compensation zone is located in a flat face of the inner wall, or forms such face.
