Dust filter

Air exhausted from a machine is filtered to remove dust using a filter element comprising at least one CFC-free filter membrane (1, 1, 1.2) with a self-supporting structure and with a fitting (2) adapted to the application and filtration characteristics of the element, pref. also CFC-free. The membrane is pref. of a non-woven material with at least one support cloth layer (3), making up a two-layer composite with the filter membrane. The supporting cloth layer may be arranged between two membranes in sandwich fashion. An adsorbent (5) may be included to aid the filtration characteristic.
