In order to manufacture polyester fibres with high pill resistance, it is proposed (1) that a polyalkylene glycol block mixed copolymer of the formula (I), in which the polyoxypropylene core has a mean molecular weight of 3000-4000 and the polyoxyethylene groups form 20-60 wt % of the block copolymer which has a mean molecular weight of 3750-10,000, should be added evenly as a separate phase to a polyester component at least 90 mol % of which is polyethylene terephthalate, the addition being carried out after polycondensation (2) of the polyester component, and the quantity of polyethylene glycol block mixed copolymer being 1-7 wt % of the polyester component. The two components thus mixed are then spun together in the usual way. The polyester component consists preferably of polyethylene terephthalate, to which 2-4 wt % of the block copolymer is added. |
