<p>Cpds. of formula (I) : R-COOAl(OH)2 (I) where R is the polysaccharide, known as xanthane gum, obtd. from fermentations of Xanthomonas campestris NRRL B-1459, are useful as gelling agents and excipients for pharmaceuticals, and also to clean sores and other cutaneous lesions. In an example, tablets were prepd. contg. 100 mg. of active ingredient, 40 mg. lactose, 57 mg. starch, 50 mg. (I), 1 mg. magnesium stearate and 2 mg. talc.</p> |
