Effectively developing automatic travel direction lock for engine driven vehicle

A force actuated switchable coupling (3) is integrated into the drive train of the vehicle and is connected to an overriding clutch and prevents rotation of the wheels in the direction in which the vehicle moves backwards. The overriding clutch and coupling connected to it is integrated in the drive train between the engine and drive shaft (2), and may be integrated into the wheel or axle mounting. The coupling and overriding clutch are formed as a structural part. The force actuated coupling is switchable by direct mechanical device or by the use of an auxiliary energy source such as oil pressure.
