PURPOSE: To provide the secondary battery at a low internal resistance, a high capacity and a high voltage by using the carbon material as a negative elec trode, the Li metal oxide as a positive electrode, and appropriately controlling both the quantity of Li derived from the negative electrode, and appropriately selecting the method for carrying Li derived from the negative electrode. CONSTITUTION: A positive electrode 1 and a negative electrode 2 are respectively formed on collectors 3, 3', and lead terminals 8, 8' are connected to the collectors 3, 3', and one end of each lead terminal is connected to a battery case 6 and a top lid 7. A space between the positive electrode 1 and the Li metal 9 is filled with the electrolyte, and a separator 5 is impregnated with the electrolyte.
