The object of the invention is a method for isolation of lactoferrin based on the specific absorption thereof by means of an insolubilized ligand on cellulose filter plates. Lactoferrin is isolated from cheese whey. This is continuously passed through a device containing the cellulose plates modified with reactive blue (2), which essentially retain the lactoferrin. After the cellulose has been washed to eliminate the proteins not retained, the proteins retained are eluted with a saline solution. Finally the lactoferrin obtained is dialysed to eliminate part of the salt and is freeze-dried, after which it can be used for adding to products for animal or human use.
