摘要 PURPOSE: To prevent fluctuation of oscillation wavelength by providing an oscillating part composed of a diamond doped with atoms of rare earth metal or a compound containing the atoms of rare earth metal. CONSTITUTION: The laser oscillation element comprises an oscillating part composed of an Er-doped diamond, and a magnesium fluoride/zeolite based half-mirror 16 formed on the end face of the Er-doped diamond. When energy is fed to the doped diamond by means of a current, atoms of rare earth metal contained in the doped diamond make optical transition from the exciting level to the base level thus emitting light having a wavelength corresponding to the inner shell transition between the spin split orbit of rare earth metal. Intensity of Er emission is increased by doping a diamond with Er and fluctuation in the oscillation wavelength of the laser oscillation element due to mechanical impact or the like can be prevented through the use of a very hard diamond as the basic material at the laser oscillating part.
