The invention relates to a filter device, in particular for a motor vehicle, provided with a base part for fixing to the vehicle and defining a receiving space and with at least one exchangeable filter part arranged removebly in the receiving space. The filter part can be formed by a filter element, for instance an active carbon filter, received in a plastic housing. Such a filter device enables periodic replacement of the universal filter part by the user himself after acquisition of the vehicle related base part.
