PURPOSE: To accurately extract a moving vector by performing a sampling for the image signal of each prescribed area of plural frame image signals by a prescribed period. CONSTITUTION: An A/D converter 14 performs samplings for the frame image signals of the previous time and this time from a camera 12 based on the signals from a timing controller 28 and a sampling clock setting circuit 30, the image signals are converted into digital image signals and the signals are stored in image memories 18 20 via a multiplexer 16. A matching arithmetic unit 22 performs the process that the signals within an image memory 18 are divided into plural blocks, the picture element with each block is defined as a first picture element, each picture element within a prescribed range where the picture element which is the signal within an image memory 20 and at the location corresponding to the location of the first picture element is defined as a reference is defined as a second picture element, the correlation of each first picture element and the second picture element is determined and a moving vector is determined based on the combination of the first picture element and the second picture element with the highest correlation, two times for long distance and short distance. At the time, the prescribed ranges are made the sizes for long distance and short distance. |
