METHOD TO SIMULATE ENDOSCOPE, AND VIRTUAL INSPECTION SYSTEM TO OBTAIN VIEW OF INTERNAL CAVITY OF BODY TO BE INSPECTED

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a virtual inspection system which enables to provided non-invasively the internal cavity view of subject to be inspected and a view which shows the viewpoint of the internal view in the entire subject. SOLUTION: An acquisition unit 21 acquires an imaging information of the internal structure of the subject to be inspected. The imaging information is segmented into separated structures, and a three dimensional (3D) surface model can be structured. An operator 5 watches the view of the 3D model and selects a goal viewpoint and a start viewpoint. Then, a viewpoint path which connects the start viewpoint and the goal viewpoint is formed. On the viewpoint along the viewpoint path, an image is formed, and the operator 5 can be helped to discover the current localization and its relation to the subject by various additional visualization methods.
