The test equipment (4) has ultrasound sensors (13) on a carrier (12) to which sealing sleeves (7) on rigid discs (17) spaced at fixed distances along a rod (16) are jointed (14). Ahead of the carrier the electronic circuitry, storage media etc. are enclosed in a housing (19). The coupling liq. is pumped (26) through a connecting tube (24) extending from forward to rearward of a collar (22) behind the housing. The inlet (27) of the tube lies in the lower region of the pipeline below its axis of symmetry (A).
