A pump comprising an inlet and an outlet for water which is to be pumped comprises a pump casing, with a driven impeller arranged rotatably in a cylindrical passage therein. An annular wearing ring is located in the passage wall, in the vicinity of the path followed by the impeller blades. To avoid blockages caused by organic material, such as leaves, plants and the like, a cutting element which projects into the passage is located close to the wearing ring, which cutting element cuts through accumulations of plants and the like and prevents blockages. |
