PURPOSE: To provide a layout device which arranges visually recognizable information on characters, figures, photographs, images, etc., in a specific area automatically and properly. CONSTITUTION: An element analysis part 410 extracts the connection relation among independent graphic elements, explaining the whole without depending upon a specific part, of information consisting of elements inputted to a display device 400. An element size determination part 420 determines sizes to which those independent graphic elements are arranged, and an independent graphic element arrangement part 43 properly arrange the independent graphic elements in a specific arrangement area according to the extracted connection relation. In the remaining area after the independent graphic elements are arranged, a deformable element arrangement part 440 properly arrange document elements of the information and graphic elements regarding the document. Through those processes, plural layout candidates are obtained and a layout selection part 450 selects the best layout of them, so that the information is displayed at a display part 460 with the selected layout. |
