PURPOSE: To provide a shock absorber which can reduce the manufacturing cost of a dust cover to a large extent as well as to shut off penetration of water into the inside of the dust cover, and also assuredly mount bumper rubber around a piston rod. CONSTITUTION: A cap member 14 which is provided with an upper cover part 14a to which a seal hole 14a1 whose inside diameter is smaller than the outside diameter D of a piston rod 2 is formed and a cylindrical fitting wall part 14b which succeeds from the periphery of the upper cover part 14a, is mounted in the upper part of a piston rod 2 in such a way that the fitting wall part 14b is directed to a cylinder side and the piston rod 2 is passed through the seal hole 141 . The upper connecting part 12b of a thin-shaped dust cover 12 is fitted-around the outer circumferential surface of the fitting around part 11a of bumper rubber. Further, the fitting-around part 11a of the bumper rubber to which the upper connecting part 12b is fitted is fitted in the fitting wall part 14b of a cap member so as to be mounted in the upper part of the piston rod 2. |
