A cultivation substrate is provided with irrigation means and comprises an at least virtually watertight substrate with a raised edge. The substrate is provided with feed and discharge means for water, which is optionally provided with fertilizers, in order to be able to place the substrate surface under water and allow it to dry out, as desired. In this way, plants which have been placed on the substrate surface can be irrigated from below. The substrate comprises a watertight screen which is provided with feed and discharge means and is surrounded by a raised edge. On the screen there are spacers which support hardened substrate segments which have a certain space between them, in order to provide a passage for the irrigation water.
