The inventions relates to a braille cell, with an actuator, which responds mechanically on the application of an electrical current, comprising an intrinsic conducting polymer (1), the polymer being in contact with an ion supplying compound (2). The polymer (1) and the ion supplying compound (2) may abut against each other in layers (10,11) and may undergo jointly a shape and/or volume change.
