PURPOSE: To prevent power from being wasted by segmenting a block, in which a specified mutual correlation function is made maximum with the small number of bits, when the specified mutual correlation function is concentrated in the block composed of bits less than the prescribed number of bits corresponding to maximum propagation delay with the rate larger than a prescribed value. CONSTITUTION: At an arithmetic circuit 23, the mutual correlation function of received data on one memory 21 and a synchronized bit pattern in another memory 22 is calculated and viterbi processing is performed while using this mutual correlation function. Then, a transmission line is estimated by segmenting the block in which the power of the mutual correlation function is most concentrated. Namely, the channel of transmission line is estimated by segmenting the block in which the square power of the absolute value of mutual correlation function is made maximum. Thus, when the delay of transmission line is small, that mutual correlation function is concentrated in the block composed of bits of a smaller number than a prescribed one at the rate larger than the prescribed value. Therefore, the block in which that mutual correlation function is made maximum can be segmented with the small number of bits. |
