PURPOSE: To reduce the production of nitrogen oxides and prevent the occurrence of problems of dispersing substances of public pollution to the outside of a furnace and the like. CONSTITUTION: Wastes 2, basicity adjustor 3 and carbonic combustible substances 4 are charged sequentially into the hoppers 1a, 1b of a vertical type furnace 1 by conveyors 5-7. Then, they are accumulated on a hearth unit 1g by natural drop from the hoppers 1a, 1b and are burnt by pure oxygen, supplied by an air feeding tuyere 1i. Incombustible substances in the wastes, which are obtained by the heat of combustion, become molten slag and flow out of a tapping hole 1j, then, are cooled suddenly in a cooling water tank 19 whereby are solidified as granular solid matter. Pure oxygen is employed as combustion gas whereby the production of nitrogen oxide can be reduced compared with a case wherein atmosphere is employed and the generation of a problem that gas, except the oxygen which contributes the combustion, generates blow-through phenomenon in the furnace and disperses the substance of public pollution to the outside of the furnace can be precluded. |
