PURPOSE: To reduce the degree of torque fluctuation per hour, and to prevent an image deterioration due to irregular rotation caused by the torque fluctuation, by providing a means for absorbing the thickness of a leading end part of a transfer medium on a part of the surface of a pressure roll. CONSTITUTION: The pressure roll 6 is composed of at least one elastic layer 10 provided on the surface, and a core bar 11 provided with the elastic layers 10 on a surface. In a part of the pressure roll 6, a window 12 covering the width of the transfer medium is formed, and in the window 12, the transfer medium thickness absorbing roll 13 for absorbing the transfer medium thickness held in the core bar 11 at the both ends in freely rotatably is disposed so that a part of its periphery matches to the surface of the pressure roll 6. Then, as for the transfer medium thickness absorbing roll 13, when the transfer medium is allowed to charge into a press contact part between the pressure roll 6 and the image carrier, the transfer medium thickness absorbing roll 13 is disposed to oppositely face the leading end part of the transfer medium in exact timing for matching with it, the thickness of the leading end part of the transfer medium is absorbed in this section. |
