PURPOSE: To provide a separator formed into a thin film to provide high permeability of an electrolyte, by forming the separator for a lithium secondary battery of a cloth in specific thickness or less. CONSTITUTION: In a battery comprising a positive electrode active material 4, negative electrode material 2, separator 3 and an electrolyte containing lithium salt, as the separator 3, a cloth 100μm thick or less is used. In a thread serving as a material of the cloth, direct or doubling the thread from fine sized fiber to normal sized fiber of superfine fiber or the like is used. The cloth is preferable a fabric of 0.01 to 10μm thread size. The fabric contains preferably 20wt.% or more polyethylene as a spinning polymer. In this way, the battery, facilitating manufacture to give a high discharge capacity and an excellent charge/discharge cycle characteristic, is obtained. |
