PURPOSE: To considerably reduce the load that is applied to a tool even when an obtuse angle part of a work is cut or ground at a comparatively high speed by the tool based on the two-dimensional scanning of two axes of a 3-axis NC machine tool with another remaining axis kept fixed. CONSTITUTION: The three-dimensional NC data showing the three-dimensional position data on each of points existing between a start point Q1 and an end point Q8 related to the two-dimensional scanning are extracted out of the three- dimensional NC data which are previously prepared. Then it is decided whether the angleθformed by the locus of a tool 1 that is decided from the NC data on three continuous points out of those extracted NC data is obtuse or not. If an obtuse angle is confirmed, an obtuse angle part that is specified by the NC data on three points Q6 , Q7 and Q8 forming an obtuse angle as an approximate circular arc is converted into the NC data on eight points Q6 , d, e, f, g, Q7 h and Q8 which is closely approximated into the circular arc with five points.
