PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover a job simply when an erroneous or a jam of a document occurs in a document handling apparatus. SOLUTION: A simplified job recovery device includes an overlapping image detecting device 104 for automatically deleting an overlapping electronic document page image. The detecting device 104 performs checksum for picture elements of plural cell areas of a page, deletes the least significant digit, and compares the checksums of the respective cells with each other to efficiently detect an overlapping page image without comparing the total image. In response to a sheet feed stop signal generated by the detecting device 104, an instruction that a document sheet 18 in a document feed path is simply removed and reloaded in a document input part 20 regardless of whether the removed document sheet 18 is already electronically imaged or not, and all removed document sheets 18 are refed to an electronic image forming part 16 to be electronically imaged can be displayed on a display. |
