PURPOSE: To easily discriminate whether a unit is a normal life device or an exchange device because of bad condition so as to automatically display life information by detecting and displaying the life of an image carrier or the life of the component of an image forming unit on the image carrier. CONSTITUTION: The life of the image forming unit is detected by a filler installed on a discharged toner recovering container, a discharged toner overflow detector, a means for detecting the deterioration of developer, a photoreceptor rotating time, and the number of total copying, etc. When the life of the component of the image forming unit is detected by the life detecting means, the life information is displayed on a photoreceptor 2 by an image-producing means. For example, when the life of the photoreceptor 2 is detected, the number of copying which becomes the life is displayed. Thus, when the photoreceptor 2 or the image forming unit is recovered to the reproducing department, whether the recovered device has normal life or not, or whether it is the exchanged device because of bad condition or not can be easily discriminated. |
