PURPOSE: To attain fast reading by converting a voltage signal comprising a component in response to an incident luminous quantity obtained from the subtraction between either of a voltage signal comprising a 1st component and a voltage signal comprising a 2nd component outputted from a picture element and a voltage signal having been stored in a storage device into a current signal and providing an output of the current signal. CONSTITUTION: An offset current Ioff stored in a current storage circuit 20a is fed to a drain of a voltage-current conversion MOS transistor (TR) TRQR1 via a connection line 20a1 . The current is subtracted ((IS+Ioff )-Ioff =IS) from a synthesis current signal (IS+Ioff ) outputted from the drain of the voltage- current conversion MOS transistor(TR) TRQR1 , a horizontal scanning circuit 7 provides an output of drive pulsesϕH1,ϕH2 for a prescribed period sequentially to horizontal read switch MOSTRsQH11 , QH12 , which are sequentially scanned and only the optical current signal IS after the subtraction is outputted to a horizontal read line 8a via separation switch MOSTRs QB1 , QB2 and horizontal read switch TRsQH11 , QH12 .
