<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the head position detecting method which detects an accurate head position by a digital servocontrol system that makes good use of a burst recording section consisting of four bursts. SOLUTION: It is judged from track ID information read out of a disk whether or not a track where a head is present is an odd-numbered track, and an odd/even information bit digodd is generated. Then PES(position error signal)1 and PES2 are calculated from a read signal of each burst and PES sum digpha and PES difference digphb are calculated by performing addition and subtraction using those PES1 and PES2. Then search information represented with the three bits, i.e., the odd/even information bit, PES sum, and PES difference and on the basis of the information, current track ID information and current PES are corrected and generated to detect the head position.</p> |
