An upstream conduit (20) is connected to the engine exhaust (14), with a downstream conduit (22) connected to the engine intake manifold (10). A controllable valve (18) is located between the upstream and downstream conduits. A control regulates the difference in pressure between the valve inlet and outlet, to maintain it at a level below the pressure difference between the exhaust and intake manifolds of the engine. The pressure difference control operates by adjusting the pressure in an intermediate chamber (24) connected in series with the valve between the valve and the upstream conduit. |
