PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To overcome the problems of separation, overtone, and background at the time of development by watching the voltage related to a first toner image and adjusting the process according to the voltage. SOLUTION: An image member 10 is uniformly charged by a first charger 12, and exposed in a first print head 14 to which toner is applied from a first toner station 16 to form a first toner image. The image member 10 is again charged by a second charger 22, and subjected to image exposure in a second print head 24, to which toner is applied from one of second and third toner stations 26, 36 to form a second toner image in the same part where the first toner image is contained. The voltage of the voltage spot preset by the first print head 14 is measured by an electronic meter 18 or 20. According to the measured voltage, for example DC bias of an electric field for controlling the process for applying second toner is adjusted. |
