PURPOSE: To simply and accurately detect a color at the outside of a color reproduction range and converts a color into an image with gradation accurately and quickly even for an image whose gradation is lost because of the outside of the color reproduction range by a conventional technology. CONSTITUTION: A memory table 102 is used to obtain a hue identification signal and a distance from a color reproduction range with respect to combinations of R, G, B signals (1st color separate signal) and an outermost decision section 104 decides a hue. corresponding to an outer most part of each hue. Then a color conversion coefficient generating section 105 obtains R, G, B of each hue from a memory 106 based on each hue identification signal and distance data corresponding to an outermost part and obtains a solution of simultaneous equations depending on the R,G,B to decide a matrix conversion coefficient aij for color conversion processing. A color conversion section 201 uses the matrix transformation coefficients to convert input R, G, B signals (1st color separate signals) into C, M, Y, W, K (2nd color separate signals) expressed by R', G', B'. |
