PURPOSE: To obtain much correction data without reducing the reliability of a registration deviation detection result by setting up the judgement reference of a judging circuit in accordance with the features of signal components in input picture signals. CONSTITUTION: A threshold setting circuit 15 evaluates the features of signal components in picture signals inputted to input terminals 2, 3 from picture signals digitized by respective A/D converters 4, 5. Then the circuit 15 sets up a threshold to be a reference for judging the reliability of a registration deviation detection result based upon the evaluated result. The set threshold is inputted to a peak detecting/judging circuit 14. It is preferable to set up the judgement reference of the circuit 14 in accordance with the calculation result of a correlation value calculated by a correlation computing element 10 and corresponding to a deviation value, and when a peak judging threshold inherent in a detection point is set up in accordance with a level difference between a point maximizing correlation intensity and a point minimizing the intensity, the number of adopted data can be increased without reducing the reliability of a registration deviation detection result. |
