FIELD: instrumentation engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention may be used to monitor domestic-drinking and technical water in reservoirs of water supply systems. Float-type level indicator has float mounted on nonmagnetic tube and reading device. It is proposed to divide space of nonmagnetic tube with nonmagnetic partition into two chambers. First one should have counterweight fitted with two magnets and flexible coupling with float. Second chamber should incorporate reading device composed of two rows of flexible contacts manufactured from one magnetic plate and oriented along nonmagnetic partition. One nonmagnetic plate should be positioned between partition and each row of flexible contacts. Reading device is connected to secondary instrument by means of connecting cable. Apart from this counterweight of proposed level indicator is equipped with mechanism to monitor direction of change of level fabricated in the form of holder of magnets which rotation axis is directly or through additional friction transmission tied up with flexible coupling of counterweight by means of belt transmission supplemented with bearing. This makes it possible to form output signal in the form convenient for further processing and to use both for monitoring of level of water and for automatic correction of operational mode of pumps and gate valves depending on degree of filling of monitored reservoir expanding by this functional capabilities of known float-type level indicators.
