PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnetic recording medium which has no temperature dependency, is not deteriorated in quality, and can be magnetized in both its length and thickness directions. SOLUTION: Barium ferrite particles 24, 26, and 28 having axes of easy magnetization 28, 30, and 32 in the directions perpendicular to their length directions are applied to a medium substrate 20 as magnetic particles so that the length directions of the particles 24, 26, and 28 can cross the moving direction of a medium. Then the substrate 20 is passed through a rotating vector magnetic field so that the length directions of the particles can become parallel to the Z-axis and the axes of easy magnetization 28, 30, and 32 can become parallel to the rotating magnetic field and directed to random directions in the X-Y plane. The rotating magnetic field is generated by scanning a pre- magnetized layer composed of magnetic parts arranged so that the polarity of one magnetic parts can become different from those of the adjacent magnetic parts or by using a rotating magnet. |
