PURPOSE: To put an accent on the syntactic unit desired to be emphasized in a sentence, to attract the listener's attention at the important part and to enhance the appealability by registering in a dictionary the data of patterns having different intonation or timbre as the voice pattern of each syntactic unit. CONSTITUTION: A voice outputting apparatus 2 comprises a voice dictionary 21 to be accessed in response to each voice reading command RS to be output to form a sentence of travel guide from the signal processor of an on-vehicle navigation apparatus 1, a synthesizer 22 for synthesizing the voice pattern data of each syntactic unit read from the dictionary 21, an amplifier 23 and a loudspeaker 24. The accent is put on the syntactic unit particularly desired to be emphasized with importance in the sentence for guiding a travel guidance, and the listener's attention is expedited. As means for putting the accent, the data of the emphasizing pattern having different intonation or timbre for the voice is registered with the dictionary 21 or the amplification factor of the amplifier 23 is variably set, thereby altering the intensity of the voice output of the syntactic unit desired to be emphasized. |
