The invention concerns a vacuum interrupter whose housing includes a hollow cylindrical insulator made of ceramic material and at least one metal cap, the rim of the metal cap and one end of the ceramic insulator forming the surfaces by which the two can be soldered together. In order to produce the soldered joint, the rim of the metal cap (7) has a pattern in the shape of a wave (13) or teeth (14), the height (h) of the wave or teeth being 0.2 to 0.6 mm. The soldered joint is particularly easy to produce if the metal cap (7) is made of copper which is electroplated with silver (11) at least at the rim; in this case, the metal cap itself provides the solder necessary for the prior art soldering operation.
