<p>A positioning apparatus for use on a surgical operating table, particularly for operating on the backbone of a patient. The apparatus includes a set of supporting panels (80) consisting of a buttock panel and two side panels for immobilising the patient's pelvis, a knee-rest (42) for supporting the kneeling patient in the genupectoral decubitus position, the height of said knee-rest above the floor being adjustable depending on the height of the patient, and a thigh-rest (44) of which the height above the floor and the spacing from the operating table may be adjusted depending on the height of the patient, whereby the patient may be held in the genupectoral decubitus position while preventing him or her from tipping forwards. Furthermore, the operating table and the positioning apparatus may be raised or lowered depending on the height of the surgeon.</p> |
