1454018 Clamps CINO CINELLI & C Snc 29 Oct 1974 [15 Nov 1973] 46635/74 Heading E2B [Also in Division B7] A bicycle handlebar stem 1 comprises a bore at one end for receiving a handlebar M, and a slide member 4 within the stem which forms part of the wall of the bore and is movable transversely of the bore under the control of a screw to engage the handlebar and clamp it in the bore. In the illustrated embodiment a block 7 has an inclined face which is moved against an inclined face b of a projection 21 on the slide member 4 by means of a screw 8 passing through a hole 31 in the stem into a tapped hole in the block, thus causing the member 4 to move transversely of the bore so that a roughened arcuate face 3 of the member 4 is brought into engagement with the handlebar. A hole 11, formed during manufacture to enable a hole 5 accommodating the block 7 and projection 21 to be drilled, may be closed by a plug. In an alternative embodiment the slide member is directly engaged by a bolt which projects from an elbow 10 of the stem 1. |
