The holder comprises an attachment (1) with wall plate for fixing on the wall and a supporting element (2) for holding the sanitary fitting. A latching mechanism locks the support element on the attachment element. The latch connection can only be released by separate measures. A guide device with guide rail (12) protruding from the wall plate acts between the attachment and support element to allow one to slide on the other. The latching device has a spring element on one part to interact with a rigid latch counter element (7) on the other. The spring element can have a pair of resilient tongues (14) running parallel to each other and to the displacement direction.
