摘要 A multiple axis steering system for vehicles comprises a steering gear (4) for a first steering axle (1) and a hydrostatic steering force transmission device with a master cylinder (5) for a second steering axle (2) adjusted via a slave cylinder (13). Oil leaks inside the steering system cause a kinematic fault between the first steering axle (1) and the second steering axle (2). The aim is therefore to ensure automatic synchronisation of the steering system when the transmission hydraulics are not under load and the vehicle is moving in a straight line, and to keep the steering system design simple. To allow the use of a master cylinder (5) with uneven piston surfaces, it is proposed that check valves (22, 22A) with mutually opposing actions should be fitted in the transmission line (6) to prevent drift of the steering axle under the preload pressure of an accumulator (17). In addition, preloaded synchroniser check valves (23, 23A) are provided between the accumulator (17) and transmission lines (6, 7); these are opened by small differential pressures between the lines (6, 7) and can compensate for smaller seal leaks. Suction valves (24, 24A) are provided in addition between the accumulator (17) and transmission lines (6, 7); via those valves the transmission hydraulic system is pressurised with accumulator pressure.
