The mounting secures tubular banister bars, having a screwed bar anchored in the step, also a connector on the bar supported via a distance sleeve on the outside of the step. A nut (1) screwing onto the bar fits in the profiled opening in a distance sleeve. A ball (7) contains a blind hole accommodating the nut, and a bolt protruding into the hole screws into the nut. An external tapped hole (11) in the ball accommodates a fixing screw passing through a connecting boss bearing against the ball and joined to a banister bar. The nut can have two coaxial tapped portions with different threads.
