The chuck (10) incorporates a shaft (11) on which the screw or stud, which is to be driven in, is mounted. The shaft is connected to the shaft (12) of the chuck by a coupling. A spring loaded axially moving coupling half (18) is mounted on the chuck shaft and engages with a second coupling half (50) on the screw shaft. The coupling half rotates with the chuck shaft and can be released by a sleeve (22). The first coupling half incorporates a protrusion or cut-out which engages with a part of matching shape.
