An impact sensor for a safety system contains two weights (4, 5) which can be driven axially symmetrically w.r.t. a main axis and which move along a circular sector in the event of an impact or deceleration. - The weights are damped to produce a response characteristic so that they positively close contacts (9, 10) mounted on plate springs (7, 8) parallel to the main axis when they reach the end of their travel. Closing the contacts operates an electrical trigger circuit.
