Bismuth complexes with tropolone derivs. of formula (I) and bismuth complexes with thiosemicarbazones or dithiocarbazonic esters of formula (II) are new. BiT1-3X0-2 (I) BiL1-3X0-2 (II) T = a tropolone deriv or its anions esp. those derivs. which possess halogen, NO2, alkyl, aryl (esp. Ph), heteroaryl (esp. pyridyl, quinolyl, furyl), amino (esp NH2, 1-4C alkylamine), aldehyde, keto, alcoholate, acid gps. (esp. 1-4C carboxylic acid) and CN gps; X = suitable anions, e.g. halide, nitrate, sulphate, carbonate, carboxylic acid (esp. 1-4C carboxylic acid), aromatic carboxylic acid (esp. benzoic acid, salicylic acid and their derivs.), citrate, malonate, lactate and heterocyclic carboxylic acid anions. L= derivs of thiosemicarbazones and/or dithiocarbazonic acid esters and their anions esp. those which possess aryl (esp. Ph or salicylyl), heteroaryl (esp. pyridyl, thienyl, furyl, pyrryl, quinolyl) or alkyl gps.
