An electromagnetic inductance including columns (6, 7) equipped with windings (10) and yokes (2, 3) made of ferromagnetic material, and in which the inductance value is dependent on the current strength. Discontinuities (gaps) are left in the magnetic circuit, and are provided as non-magnetic head-gaps (66, 76) between the ends of the columns (6, 7) and the yokes (2, 3) as well as column-airgaps (6a, 7a) which are provided as at least one through-running cavity on each column. the length (a) of the respective column air-gap (6a, 7a) is less than the width (b) of corresp. column (6, 7) so that the lateral zones (6c,7c) carry magnetic flux through the ferromagnetic material.
