Compression and decompression of pixel values

Each pixel of the digital picture has a place in the lattice and a colour value. The figure gives only a 3x3 picture and 16 possible pixel colours, but in practice it can be 1024x1024 and each pixel has a colour value selected from a palette of 16.8 million colours. Fig. 1 (A) shows each pixel with two numbers, the first indicating the row and the second the column in the picture. Fig. 1 (B) gives the colour value for each pixel, ranging from the whole numbers 0 to 15, and fig. 1 (C) shows the colour levels, with a binary bit flow.
