METHOD OF DETERMINING THE BEARINGS OF AQUATIC ORGANISMS AND A DEVICE FOR CARRYING OUT THE SAID METHOD

The invention concerns a method of determining the bearings of aquatic organisms in which hydroacoustic signals are processed by parallel spectral analysis for "N" frequency sub-channels and subsequent adaptive measurement of signal levels in each frequency sub-channel, after which the converted signals are compared with threshold values and signals which exceed the threshold are indexed; the bearings of the aquatic organisms are determined when the indices of both received signals are equal. In order to improve the accuracy of the direction finding and to improve protection against interference, the proposed device for taking the bearings of aquatic organisms is provided with: two spectral analysers (6, 7); four units (8-11) for measuring root-mean-square signal values; a unit (12) for the pair-wise averaging of the root-mean-square signal values; a unit (14) for determining the minimum signal level; a unit (15) for determining weighted coefficients; two sets (26, 17) of controlled attenuators; a unit (18) for determining the mean value of the standardised signals; a unit (19) for setting the thresholds; a second set (21) of threshold elements; two sets (22, 23) of adders; and two sets (24, 25) of filters.
