A male connector housing 2 mates with a female connector housing 1 and is retained by a latch 3. The thickness of one of the housings changes along its length to one side 6 of the plane passing through the latch and the centre-line of the connector, either on the same side as the latch, fig. 1, or opposite the latch, fig. 3. The side 23 of the housing opposite the tapering side can contact a corresponding surface 24 of other housing along its length. The taper allows free play between the housings to be reduced progressively during mating of the housings. |
