<p>The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus which comprises an image bearing member (1) for bearing a toner image, a transfer roller (4) for transferring the toner image from the image bearing member (1) to a transfer material (19), and an electricity removing member (6) for removing electricity from the transfer material (19) to separate the transfer material (19) from the image bearing member (1), and wherein, when the electricity is removed from the transfer material by the electricity removing member (6), a potential level applied to the electricity removing member (6) is selected so that the potential level at end portions of the transfer material (19) becomes greater than the potential level at a central portion of the transfer material (19) along a transfer material shifting direction, thereby improving separation of the transfer material (19) from the image bearing member (1).</p> |
